Downloaded this post @ the time but just now getting round to listen.
ReplyDeleteHow times have changed. I remember listening to these tunes in a dance or a blues. Now it's in my kitchen! I was feeding my 15 month old son who seemed to take great delight in watching his somewhat portly, 50+ old man cut a step. My 8 year old daughter's response was more apposite and whilst she didn't exactly kiss her teeth her remarks along the lines of white mmen can't dance almost earned her a clip around the earhole.
Oh good music is wasted on her generation! Hannah Montana & the Jonas Brothers. What does she know....but where did I go wrong!
Anyway enough wittering...I really enjoyed it.
Rewind selecta & come again.
Respect,
Eugene
Gwan Daddy!.. You cut your steps...i do my best dancing in the kitchen!.. And have some faith in the children they have room to grow...My daughter, the youngest 13 has started to listen to Jill Scott...along side.. this uk garage migraine skank..etc...i can remember my own parents telling me to turn my rubbish down too.. lol..now i hear myself doing the same..Sigh! We can hold a dance anywhere!!.. even if its in kitchens..Actually thats usually the best place to be at parties.. near the rum and pot of food!.. much love..x
ReplyDeleteTell me, sister!
ReplyDeleteI can hear my father saying the same thing.
We turn into our parents eventually....It's only taken me 30odd years to find it out.
I think I'll threaten my children with that thought.
Peace & love,
Eugene.
Now for your latest post.
LOOL!.. *Nodding* Yup..
