The other artist not featured in this mix is Elisha Laverne Ep, Same vein. also released this month is Anthony Davids album As above so below..Have you got your copy yet..I featured the algebra duet last year. I strongly recommend you buy it too. Theres alot of good music about the place Walter Christopher is another one that comes to mind too.

Greetings everybody. I have seriously been neglecting my blog. Believe me its hard finding the time and energy it takes to keep it going. Been so busy at work and home life is pretty busy too. So i appologise for the lack of posts so far this year....My bad as my daughter says.

Had this folder on my desktop since Bob Marley's anniversary. Happy birthday Mr Marley he would be 66 this year. It got me thinking about what has come from reggae since the great man died. Yes Its that time of year The time for lovers!.This is the second year that i have participated in this global event.Cupids hunt is an online collaboration where podcasters, bloggers and djs from all over the web-sphere release a love themed podcast in honour of valentines day. Every so often i get a bit nosey at whats happening in the reggae music scene particularly in dancehall. It starts of quite a small curiosity and I cherry pick tracks that i like..until i have enough to put them in my musical cooking pot and serve for our ears. I never stopped loving danchall music and i can still shake a foot or two. I just dont really like the slack talk. Or anyone preaching hateful words. It just don't do it for me. And prefer something with a sense of purpose, A message. But sometimes one or two come along that make me laugh or are just plain cheeky. Added in combination with a reggae conscious twist just to balance out all the seasoning.. Sounds nice....

Happy New Year! Its Been a few weeks since my last post. Got My nose firmly to the grind stone. On a mission this year for a really nice holiday to an island somewhere warm. Its been snowing heavy in london all week. Temperatures currently are minus 4 and We need a little winter warmer. Sunday... The house is peaceful and I have 2 whole days off. So i guess you can say that im feeeeellllllinnnng Nice!. Made this very early this morning. Its been waiting to be conjured up into something yummy all week, but every time i set a little time to compose, duty calls me... A Couple of weeks ago i went to see Tarrus Riley in concert...my gosh he did not disappoint! brought me to tears a couple of times...lol...what a voice!.. David rodigan warmed up for him..Gosh for an older man he still has bundles of energy..But im sorry to say..He cant dance...was very funny seeing him doin his thing on stage, out of time and rhythm to music that ooozes it..Wow!..i think he was dancing to the lyrics, because i couldn't tell what was moving Him!..Bless you Mr Roddi Roddi Roddigan lol. One of the first reggae djs that i listened to regularly...

Cant quite put into words how reggae music makes me feel, but if pushed, i would say that it makes me feel in tune with myself and the world. Romain Virgo doing a nice cover of John Holts Classics. A few cover versions on this one,sometimes other genres of music sound better in a reggae style.. No Air by lukie D and Lonni, nice version, dare i say better than the original. I might!...Don Campbell doing his version of Stay a little bit longer.. Definitely better than the original. Listen out for them in the beginning..And loads of other big big tunes To tantalise your eardrums. All bases are covered from lovers reggae to some conscious reggae, my favourite combination. "Gregory was well-loved by everyone, his fans and his family, and he worked really hard to make sure he delivered the music they loved and enjoyed," his wife said.

Another of my ultimate male reggae artists passes. Ive put together some of my personal favourites Tracks. It was very difficult to choose as i have so many Gregory songs. A Great Loss to the music and a pioneer of Reggae music. Rest In Peace Sir. One of my most favourite voices of reggae and another artist who was the soundtrack to most of my life. Lets us celebrate his musical talent and give thanks for his contribution to the music that we love.

Been digging about in the loft this week an found some massive tunes from a long way back. Once upon a time in deepest South London, back then, this young woman would blast certain songs from her front room.... I used to really piss of my neibours, I lived in a tiny flat in a tower block and there was this really grumpy racist woman lived above me, She used to bang on the cieling coz me music was too loud...lol.... Every time she saw me comming in or out the block she'd shout out nasty things to me...I used to laugh, and it only made me play my tunes louder...Oopps.... Some people are very wicked and bitter you know...

So ive selected some for our listening pleasure..Actually im all up and down the time line today 80s 90s 00s. There are some huge new tunes in this one too. But wait till you hear what i sneak in..I garentee your going to be shouting out Yo Dj Pullup!!! This is by definition the pullup selection, as all the tracks deserve a rewind.

some of the samples are a little quiet as they come from vinyl, and are old and well played, got the popcorn effect all over them. Some are digital re issues..but the essence is Smokey hot hot hot!!!.. Im not one of those collecters who get all precious over their tunes...They are to be played, used, enjoyed...not kept in cling film and hung on the wall.. I think thats such a waste.

Your going to love the new tracks ive dropped in the begining there is just something about them that reminds me of the old stuff i used to play.. they have an ole skool flavour about them.

Last Friday i had the privilege to attend an interview with one of my favourite current reggae artists.. Gyptian. Currently touring Europe and after the huge success of hold yu, hes fast becoming the one to watch breaking the main stream charts. I think hes the first reggae artist to do so since Wayne wonder with no letting go.. its a very big deal!.. Reggae as a genre of music has so much talented artists and should not be locked out of the main stream music industry.... why is not more on MTV!!!!

As you can imagine i was extremely excited to have a chance to meet him.

With no time to prepare, and already very late, we were shown into a very hot studio and as you will see, i missed the very beginning of the interview... camera woman...lol.. Mr Flava being the true pro he is dived straight in....... A truly nice guy and a very talented young man... i was only sorry i didn't get his autograph, as there was a long line of other media types queuing at the door to get in.. But i did get to shake his hand... A wonderful afternoon indeed!!

Uk Funky House. Not my usual cup of cha, i really like the more soulful stuff, but theres a lot of it being played around my house... its rubbing off on me. What with my very loud teenager. Who loves the stuff. that and Grime, which im not feeling in the slightest. In an attempt to gain some reputation as being a rather yummy mummy who still knows whats going on in music.. Ive put this together. Ive sneaked in 1 or 2 little soulful tracks just for balance. But there all uk artists..... For you my little Ray of Sunshine!.xx

Sugar Lincoln Minott Tribute (25th May 1956 - 10th July 2010)

Another Founding Father of Reggae and the Dancehall Sadly left us Yesterday. Sugar Di Boom Boom Lincoln Barrington Minott and one of my ultimate favourite artists.

The original girls dem Sugar, he exploded onto the scene from the foundations of studio one as an apprentice to Coxon Dodd.

So many Great Songs to choose from 4 decades of music, he has such a unique beautiful voice and went on to give many many young performers their first platform on which to stand. and he was still recording, until his passing.

Rest in peace and thank you for providing some of the soundtrack to much of my life...xx

Sway with me and enjoy!! i was going to put in some dancehall riddims, but changed my mind i think it would have spoilted the flow...perhaps next time ill get my dancehall queen on. My Daughter tells me its all about attitude!.. ive bought myself a very nice mic...for a webcast....But im scared of it...lol... Been mostly holding it to my mouth and then freeze, now in real life im never short of anything to say. And i think fairly entertaining...(sigh!)

i listen to alot of radio and i have to say a lot of DJs talk a load of rubbish. i listened once to this dj talking about a dog barking, and how it was big an stinking.. after every track he played. Same joke, over and over again, i switched him off. Very few are real entertainers... (My humble opinion) although i have the privilege to know a few Fabulous ones personally...ive been practising my DJ persona....but so far, i remain voiceless....Let my collection do the talking... i dont want to come over like a bad wedding DJ....or a scary bingo caller either...lol.

Yes, This was the decade of the cd, i think the first cd i bought was in 1994 reluctantly, i remember feeling forced into it. And i kept swearing to all my friends that i would never go down that road... you have to admire the sentiment...although in the end, i gave in. As you can imagine i never heard the end of that one!.."Whaaa gwaan Wid da CDs" lol..
That was also the same year that i got internet at home...lol...56k dial up modem, it took ages for pages to load. My poor bank account took a punishing as i discovered online music stores... thats progress for you.

Lovers Rockin'

Were going to a blues party. Taking you right back in time again with some of my favorite tunes from back in the day when we used to sway in dark corners to sweet rhythms.

Dug deep into my collection for this. And really brought back some great memories of when i was younger. I hope I am able to stir the imagination for you all too.

I have been a little absent lately, computer problems but all is well now and i have the issues fixed. Oozbej.. i wish i was on holiday, lol...xx Been busy outside in the garden planted all kinds of vegetables, with the help of some sunshine i should have a bountiful harvest this year... so watch this space for a garden mix really soon, got one lined up....
Have also been adopted by a small stray cat that has made friends with me...i expect its because i feed her tinned tuna.. She sits at the back door early in the morning with the sweetest face....as if to say TUNA! she really raggedy, and i think she is pregnant too.... could be im going to turn into one of those nutty cat ladies you see sometimes...lool... My children want to call her chairman Meow......funny but not very feminine, but Puss is sufficient for now...

Hello.. All.
my latest offering is in 2 sections, the main reason is that im able to upload at a higher bite rate. Better quality of sound. Ive been having a few technical difficulties. So its all about using some common sense. Not sure if its my settings or sound card. But woman triumphed over machine.... eventually. Give me a simple deck, amp, and tape deck any day... Imagine how long it would take... id be posting things out in Jiffy bag envelopes, then the food inside might spoil. There are some pluses to modern technology. You might consider this to be an old style tape as they are 2 40+ mins per side. I was a TDK 90 girl back in the day..What was your favorite tape?...I was discussing this with a few friends recently. Remember when they got left in the car on a hot day, or just unraveled in the machine and you carefully take it out and wind it back with a biro, praying for it not to be busted. Or what about then the little bugger folded over and its got a twist in it..or worse folded like a fan, You hear the dreaded noise of pinky an perky high speed sound followed by the grinding to a halt.... AHHHH.. lol. Ive even taken the tape apart before and performed open heart surgery. What were those tapes with the tiny screws?.....lol... They were rubbish but looked posh. You of course knew that. Its got lorry loads of soul. I was in need of some good cooking music today. So i made this for my weekend kitchen duty. I Fancy something yummy to eat, and since the one thing i need is some good music for the kitchen.

So i might urge you all this coming weekend to make something wholesome and tasty to eat. Even better if your cooking for others. Here is my contribution to your recipe. Get your chef hats on, and don't forget to wash your hands. Cant cook in a dirty kitchen or with dirty hands..

If you have not discovered by now food and music go so well together, both sensual pleasures i cannot live without. We are taught that pleasure is something we ought to curb, most of them are illegal or Taboo, some of the nicer ones are. I do not subscribe to this teaching and think everyone should have a little of what you fancy. As Long as your not hurting anybody, i dont see the harm. The difficulty is not to over indulge. lol. Its not so bad if your addiction is to good music though. That's why you come and sit with me on my sofa. Virtually speaking, ;)

Inspired Soul pt 2

There may be a danger that i might have over done my latest interest of period dramas. Set mostly in victorian England. The most recent being Larkrise to Candleford. Set in Rural England at a time of great hardships and buttoned upness. I love them. The inner conflicts between what is morally correct, and the inner turmoils of desire and wishes.

Thank goodness i was not around at that time, i may have been in the work house long before now. An un married mother of two trying to make ends meet. The scandal!

I am an old fashioned kind of woman at heart despite my modern mind, fiercely fought independence, and views on equality.

So with that in mind i made this. Enjoy. Its very far removed from chamber music but there is a real romantic flavor to it none the less.

An Inspired Soul

My Alarm went off too early! I experience one day that felt like spring, and immediately, I sprung into action 10 days ago gutting the living room off all its contents. Cleaning everything within an inch of its life and putting it back all different. It Looks lovely. A couple of new cushions and it looks like a brand new room. It is from this 'new' room that i make music for us this night. The energy has completely changed. You will see that its for the better as i do.

This weekend what do i see, sleet rain Grey cold and more cold. So im back with the Horlicks and snuggle blankets being a little grumpy...LOL Like a bear who was woke up too soon From her cave. Grr
Ive been gathering bits and pieces and sticking them in a folder for my next compilation. Its a little eclectic, what with my mood. I feel like a child on a Sunday looking out the window wanting to be outside but mama says its too cold to go out!... Its that Time of Year Again. Amore....Love Love is everywhere. If only that were true.. Imagine if the planet could really get on board, a paradise we would live in.. So Thanks to Eugene and my good self. Im going to do my bit. Cupids Hunt is a Global podcast that is taking place this valentines day. Spread the Luuurrve people.....

So Get your candles out and your massage oils, Something nice to drink or *coughs* something a little greener. Put My cd in and let nature do the rest!! Of Course you don't really need all that stuff, just 2 kindred spirits who want to spend time together is usually all it really takes. I used to giggle at some of my male customers coming into the barber shop with frantic faces and arms full of teddies, balloons, chocolates, flowers, huge oversized cards... Id say "what are you doing?" Some men not all, but some men just dont get it do they... lol..

I personally think that romance should be incorporated into every day life.. A kind word, a cuddle, laughter, listening understanding. Just really showing that you care. It costs nothing but goes a long way to keep the flame flickering when things get tough.
A couple of years ago, My daughter got this massive basket of silk looking flowers with this very sinister looking teddy bear perched in the centre of it.. It was really really disgusting, eventually I asked her to get rid of it because it terrified us all.. (The boyfriend went shortly after)
Chuckie meets the care bears (remarkably Similar to the Boyfriend) in a garden of plastic plants!!! Honestly..lol The funniest and sadest part to this tale of love is that he carried it on a bus in a black Bin bag.... Sigh.. The things we do for Love!!

Rockers Reggae Rockin'

Ive got a nasty cough from this basement I got lost in collecting these musical ingredients. After watching Rockers again recently, it inspired this new collection of songs that needed quite a lot of dusting down. What a fantastic film Rockers is... I also watched Smile Orange too.. Yes Thar...lol (And if you don't know them, then get to know, Classic movies)

It got me thinking, what with one of my blessed daughter 22nd birthday just days away what I would play at my own birthday party.. The big 40 approaches which im feeling really good about. I haven't had a birthday party since i was 10!... My Dad was the DJ, and all my friends thought he was a professional, he was that good... lol, one of the stories HE likes to recount when we speak of music and parties.
I was thinking I might have one this year. If i do, then this would be the type of music that might have to drop, no...must! Its not till September so i have plenty of time to organise. Even if its just a small gathering of close friends, some nice food and good music. Im definitely marking it in some way. My fantasy is that it might be a little like an old blues affair, and you will find me in a corner swaying to the beat, some gorgeous man approaches and asks me to dance. Sigh....You never know ;) It is valentines month too, so i hope you guys put this to some good use, its almost a perfect hour in length....lol

Daughters mix 3 (Happy Birthday)

Its hard to fathom that in 2 weeks time my eldest child is going to be 22. Where did all that time go? Its a small miracle really, I was a very young teen mum, which i think helped immensely you see i had no fear, something you see in younger people all the time. I heard recently that David Issacs of the Itals sadly passed away on the 22nd December. Rest in Peace sir and thank you for your contribution to reggae music. (RIP David Issacs)

So i have made a compilation to honor one of the founding fathers to what is one of my major passions Reggae... It seems fitting then to make an ital stew selection for our supper.

This compilation covers lots of decades as we enter a brand new one, some more of my favorite tracks from back in time right up to time. It was a total self indulgence, i think i might have a very small raggamuffin within me, that comes out from time to time. Nothing wrong with that. Studio One Vol 2

I just realised that this could be my last mix of the decade!.. I had to come again with some more studio one, as the last night of the year approaches I wanted to celebrate it with you in style!

Since having (The hard Drive melt down..Shh We dont talk about that) Ive got music all over the place.. disks, memory sticks, Cds, And of course Vinyl. im still trying to recover and collect everything back into some order...A very Boring lengthy process... But im getting there...slowly. And, I should add, I think I would rather gouge out my eyes with spoons if i ever had to be an administrator..Big props to all the people who do that for a living.... Im a more creative type by nature. An excuse i like to use to describe my own way of organisation.

I made this early this morning, after putting on my lamb curry, (Slow Cooker) i think the smells from the kitched helped.. Im smiling to myself because you should see me sometimes..You might be tempted to call the people in white coats!.. A Legend on top of my own Duvet!...Honestly.. :P

Just Vibes...

The season here in London is finally in full swing of Grey...Cold...Damp...and my favourite Rainy..(Not!).. So i find my musical taste tends to change a little bit this time of the year. I actually really dislike the winter time. I would prefer to hibernate till spring, or go live in a warmer climate till at least the beginning of May.. If you consider it, it makes perfect sense as nature itself seems to shut down for the winter time till the spring, when it explodes back into life again...So why not people?...

Its also the time of the year for snuggle blankets, big bowls of homemade soup, thick woolly jumpers, and other nice things like hot coco or milo...Recently found a mint chocolate drink that is soooo yummy, or 'munch' as my youngest says. I have fond memories of going home after school as a child and walking into the warmth, and smells of my mums stews...Now my own children come in Damp and cold to that, I like to see there faces and the noises they make when they take the lid of the cooking pot...
I spoke to my Dad this morning, he was complaining about the cold and the layers of clothes he had on. I told him I was just making some stew like my grandmother used to make..He says...'oh you made my mouth water, im going to ask mum to make some now'...lol...

So this mix really is reflecting my mood and im just vibin with my beats.. so Grab your coco, or even better home made soup, snuggle blanket and vibe on the sofa with me today.. Enjoy!!

This is a special post dedicated to one of my oldest and truest friends. We first met on top of a Double Decker bus! Yes, a big red London bus! And we have been Great friends ever since...some 20+ years later little has changed.

I love this man like a brother and when he introduces me as his sister people give us funny looks!..lol.. My partner in Rhythm!..I was fortunate enough to have a little peak through some of his music recently, while we were doing our usual mind meld of musical journeys and made a couple of compilations for our listening pleasure!

Yup, ive been digging about in dusty basements again. Ive found some more buried treasure, for our ears and minds to enjoy. Every single song in this compilation has a real vivid memory attached to it and therefore is special to me. But like most music, we are all able to conjure up fragments of our past to a particular song or era.. I was at this time a cheeky Teen running around London's finest record shops looking for Tunes. My Favorite shop was called Daddy Cool, in Soho, Berwick Street. i don't think its there any more. I was recently in a dusty basement at a local record shop, but struggled to reach the racks at the back..im only 5 3".. im still cheeky but now a grown woman.. But it was so nostalgic, i was in vinyl ecstasy, the smell of the covers as you flick through the racks, frantically searching for something, anything that captures your eyes. lol.. ANORAK!

I pay tribute to one of my favorite British reggae lovers rock stars who died at the weekend..

It is generally regarded that Louisa Mark made the first British lovers rock track called Caught You in A Lie. She only recorded one album but she had many hit singles. All of my favorite songs are in this compilation mix.
I can recall me an my Friend Christine getting ready to Louisa and others on a Saturday night. Attempting to hit her high notes!! While Sipping our Canei wine, Peach was the one, So Sweet.. YUK! lol (Cant recall the spelling) Who remembers Canei wine? OOh We thought we were so classy..LOL...and Failing brilliantly. The original Ghetto Fabulous...Ahh we so were..

So what did you eat for your Sunday dinner?.. What ever you ate today, I hope you were in company of your nearest an dearest. The world seems so busy many people working on Sundays, missing out on family time.. ive also had to do this in the past. I personally think sundays should be family time, or down time..its a crazy world and sometimes its just a bit too much for me..i would secretly like to disappear and live up a mountain. Growing up, I remember all the shops being closed on sundays. For me its just nice for us all to sit to the table and have a conversation.
